Native American Indian Energy-Producing Tribes
We presented a keynote address to a major energy-producing tribe in the Northern Plains in a symposium focused on oil exploration and social and environmental consequences.
The symposium included participation amongst the oil industry, Indian Nations, the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs, state governments and non-governmental organizations.
Key topics include the environmental implications of hydraulic fracturing and the degree to which Indian Country is able to sufficiently express its sovereignty sufficiently to keep pace with off–reservation, state–wide petroleum development and production.
